Day 1
Monday Departure — Your Journey to Egypt Begins
Depart for Egypt

Flights for Your Tour

When booking your land tour with us we can also assist with your flights. Or you can book your flights independently — we will coordinate your arrival and departure airport transfers, included in your tour at no additional cost.

With jet lag and fatigue a possible downside to long flights, we recommend arriving in Cairo one day before your tour starts (Monday arrival instead of Tuesday). This will help you rest, relax, and better adjust to the new time zone so you start your tour fresh.

The option includes private transfers from Cairo International Airport to your hotel, one night with breakfast and dinner at The Ramses Hilton or the Barceló Cairo Pyramids. Contact us for rates. When booking please advise us if you wish to reserve this option.

Giza • Coptic Cairo • Khan el-Khalili

After breakfast, meet your Egyptologist guide to begin the Where It All Began tour. Visit one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — the three Pyramids of Giza. The oldest and largest is the Cheops Pyramid, built about 2690 BC. Next, the Pyramid of Chefren and the majestic Great Sphinx — the largest single-block sculpture in the world, guarding the pyramids below. Take a camel ride with the Pyramids as your backdrop.

Continue to the New Grand Egyptian Museum, offering a vivid insight into Egypt’s 5,000-year history and its extraordinary treasures.

Visit Old Cairo and its cultural landmarks spanning three millennia. Begin with Coptic Cairo, visiting the Hanging Church and the Babylon Fortress.

Continue to the Church of St. Sergius — a 5th-century Coptic church built over the cave where the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, and the infant Jesus) are believed to have rested during their flight from Herod (Matthew 2:13-15). Visit the recently restored Synagogue of Ben Ezra — the oldest Jewish synagogue in Egypt, built in 882 AD.

Day 4
Thursday Sinai Desert • Exodus Route • Mount Sinai Area
Sinai Peninsula • St. Catherine’s

After breakfast, depart by private air-conditioned coach to Saint Catherine’s Monastery via the tunnel beneath the Suez Canal to the west branch of the Red Sea, following what is believed to be the route of the Biblical Exodus (Exodus 16-18). The drive through the Sinai Peninsula and the biblical Land of Goshen to the Mount Sinai area (233 miles) takes approximately 6 hours.

Along the route pass Marah by the Red Sea — the desert springs where the children of Israel found the water bitter (Exodus 15:22-23) — then the desert oasis of Elim, and Wadi Feiran (Rephidim), the valley where the Israelites fought against the Amalekites. Continue to Mount Serbal, the possible site where Moses held up his arms for victory in battle.

Continue inland toward the granite mountain of Mount Sinai (Exodus 19) and Wadi El Raha — the plain where tradition holds the Israelites camped and the golden calf was forged (Exodus 32). Arrive at the hotel near Mount Sinai and St. Catherine’s Monastery.

A Note About the Mt. Sinai Hotel

Hotel accommodation options in the remote area of Mt. Sinai are very limited. The hotel used on our tour is the best available in the area; however, it is not equivalent in standard to the other hotels used throughout this tour.

Optional Night Activity: Climb Mount Sinai

For those who desire and are physically capable: climb Mount Sinai beginning at 2:00 AM, returning around 9:00–9:30 AM. Ride a camel 2/3 of the way up the mountain. Your tour guide can arrange this at the location for $25 per person. Bring warm clothing for the ascent — the summit is cold at night even in summer.

Overnight near Mt. Sinai — Full Buffet Breakfast and Dinner included.

Egypt → Israel → Jordan • Petra

At daybreak, those who desire and are physically capable will climb Mount Sinai Jabal Musa (6,900 ft, 750 steps to the summit), walking the footsteps of Moses to enjoy a time of praise and the incredible views of the Sinai wilderness — where God revealed himself in the Burning Bush and gave Moses the Ten Commandments (Exodus 3, 19-20). Descend to rejoin the group for breakfast.

Tour Saint Catherine’s Monastery — constructed at the foot of Mount Sinai between AD 527 and 565 by the Emperor Justinian, it is the world’s oldest continuously working Christian monastery. The Greek Orthodox church building within is the oldest continuously used church building in the world. The monastery was built on the site traditionally believed to be where God appeared to Moses in the Burning Bush.

Depart toward the eastern shores of the Sinai Peninsula and north along the Red Sea to the Taba Border Crossing — the Egypt-Israel border. Lunch provided in Taba at a local restaurant prior to crossing.

After crossing, meet our Israeli representative. Take a short city tour of Eilat — Israel’s southernmost town on the Red Sea.

Arrive at the Wadi Araba Border — the Israel-Jordan southern border — and cross into Jordan. Meet our Jordanian guide and welcome to Jordan. Visit the city and port of Aqaba along the King’s Highway to Wadi Musa and on to the ancient city of Petra (Numbers 20:18-21, Isaiah 34:5-8, Jeremiah 49:16-18).

Saturday Full Day in Petra — Then Drive to Amman
Petra • Amman, Jordan

A full day exploring the Nabatean Treasure City of Petra — one of the world’s greatest archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A short drive from the hotel brings you to the entrance of the 2,000-year-old city of Petra, known as the rose-red rock city and ancient capital of the Nabateans from the 3rd century BC.

At the entrance, travelers are offered the option to ride a horse 800 meters to the dramatic “Siq” (canyon), from which a 1,250-meter walk leads to the first great monument — The Treasury. Throughout the day explore Petra’s extraordinary structures: the Bab Al Siq (gateway to the Siq), the Treasury, the Royal Tombs, the obelisks, the High Place of Sacrifice, the Theatre carved into the mountain, the 5th-century Church, the Colonnaded Street, the Lion Triclinium, the monastery monument (Ad Deir), the Great Temple complex, and much more.

Frequently Asked Questions
15-Day Egypt, Jordan & Israel — answers to the questions we hear most

Yes. All three countries are established international tourism destinations welcoming millions of visitors annually. Egypt's Pyramids and Sinai Peninsula, Jordan's Petra and Dead Sea, and Israel's biblical sites are among the world's most visited destinations. Our tour routes are carefully planned to avoid any restricted areas. We recommend checking the U.S. State Department travel advisories for all three countries before departure.

Egypt: U.S. and Canadian citizens require a visa for Egypt. A tourist visa is available on arrival at Cairo International Airport for approximately $25 USD, or it can be obtained in advance as an e-Visa online. We recommend prepaying your Egypt visa with us before travel — this eliminates waiting in visa lines at the airport and gets you through faster. Ask us when booking.

Jordan: U.S. and Canadian citizens can obtain a visa on arrival at the border crossing or at Amman Airport for approximately JD 40 (about $55 USD) for a single-entry visa. If entering via the Wadi Araba border crossing as on this tour, the visa is issued at the border.

Israel: U.S. and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for tourist visits up to 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Israel.

This tour crosses two international borders, each with associated taxes not included in your tour price:

  • Egypt to Israel (Taba Border, Day 5): Approximately US $35.00 Israel entry tax + US $2.00 mandatory shuttle service at the crossing. Total approximately $37 per person.
  • Jordan to Israel (Allenby Bridge, Day 7): Approximately US $16.00 Jordan exit tax.

Please have US dollars available for these fees. All taxes are subject to change without notice and are paid directly at the border crossings.

The land package includes: all airport transfers in Egypt and Israel, 12 nights accommodation, full buffet breakfast and dinner throughout, three included lunches (Cairo day, Taba crossing, and St. Peter’s Fish by the Sea of Galilee), all entrance fees, certified Egyptologist guides in Egypt, Jordanian guides, and Israeli Ministry of Tourism certified guides in Israel, and deluxe motorcoach. No credit card surcharges.

Not included: flights, most lunches, tips, personal expenses, Egypt visa fees, and border crossing taxes (approx. $37 Egypt→Israel; $16 Jordan→Israel).

Yes — the climb is an optional activity on Day 5. It begins at 2:00 AM and returns around 9:00–9:30 AM, allowing climbers to watch the sunrise from the summit (6,900 feet). A camel ride covers approximately 2/3 of the ascent for those who prefer not to walk the entire way. The cost is $25 per person, arranged at the location with your tour guide.

The climb involves 750 steps to the summit on the final portion. It is physically demanding and requires appropriate clothing — the summit is cold at night even in summer. Those who prefer not to climb rejoin the group for breakfast before the monastery tour.

This is the most active tour we offer — 10 full touring days across three countries. Most days involve 2 or more miles of walking on uneven surfaces. Petra in particular involves a significant walk — from the Siq entrance to the Treasury is approximately 1,250 meters on foot on sand and gravel (a horse ride is available for the first 800 meters). The Pyramids area, Old Cairo, Masada, and Jerusalem’s Old City all involve substantial walking on uneven ground.

Many of our travelers are seniors and complete the tour successfully with proper footwear and pacing. If you have difficulty walking unaided over longer distances, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the tour’s suitability and any accommodations available. A private tour option exists for the Israel portion.

Register using the form below or call 1-800-933-4421 Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM PST. A non-refundable deposit of $200 per person confirms your reservation subject to availability. No added fees for credit card payment.
