The Western Galilee is the true essence of a Galilean landscape: Green mountains covered with beautiful Mediterranean forests extending all the way down into the sea, beautiful beaches, ancient towns, and hidden mountain villages.

Safed is a lovely old Jewish city, with cobblestone streets, old synagogues, interesting alleys and an artists quarter. It is a hilltop town that should be visited while you are in Israel. Safed is where Kabbalah started so you can feel the mysticism when you walk the streets. At 900 meters above sea level, Safed is Israel’s highest altitude city, nestled in the mountains of the Upper Galilee.

Magdala also called Dalmanutha is located in the Sea of Galilee, a major 1st century port, and a focal point of exchange and trade, known for Mary Magdalene being born in this wealthy trading and fishing center (Mark 8:10 ; Matthew 15:39 , Luke 8:2 ). The port was a major exporter of salted fish to business sectors as far away as Europe. Archaeological discoveries in the 21st century have made it a Israel Christian pilgrimage tour destination.

The famous and scenic Church of the Beatitudes chapel stands a top of Mount of Beatitudes, constructed between 1936 and 1938  by the noted architect Antonio Barluzzi, and it honors the place where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, Matthew 6, Matthew 7,Matthew 8). You’ll visit this beautiful holy site during our 5th day of our signature Christian pilgrimage Holy Land Tour of Israel, and it’s often described by pilgrims as one of the more memorable moments when visiting the Holy Land.

The region of the Galilee is a powerful and uplifting place to visit on a tour to the holy land for Christian pilgrims. It is where the slopes and hills of the Galilee reach down to the most famous lake in the Bible, the Sea of Galilee the largest fresh water lake in Israel.
